Below are a few questions around life coaching, and how the process works. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, drop me a note and I’ll get back to you, lickety-split.
- What does a Life Coach do?
- Who needs a Life Coach?
- How can we work together?
- How often do we meet?
- How do we get started?
Well, for starters we will not spend hours revisiting your past. Instead, we will dive head first into what is going on in your life NOW, identifying any thought and behavior patterns that are keeping you from living your best life, and dissolving them so that you can tap into your inner wisdom with clarity and confidence. Think of me as a personal trainer for your mind – I’ll give you tools and techniques to optimize your performance, while providing you the encouragement you need as you begin to change your life/relationships/career/etc. from the inside out.
A note on therapy: While I find that virtually all clients benefit tremendously from life coaching, there are occasions where a therapist may be better suited to handle a specific situation. If I think therapy is going to be a better option for you, either instead of or in parallel with coaching, I will tell you, straight up.
In my honest opinion, everyone could benefit from a Life Coach, at least at some time or another.
Truth be told, anyone who is looking to improve their life is a candidate for life coaching. Some of the areas I personally assist with are:
- Individuals going through life transitions – be it the beginning or end of a job, relationship, career, milestone, or… whatever!
- Individuals who are “stuck”, dissatisfied or discontent with their current circumstances, ready to make a change but aren’t sure what that looks like or where to even start
- Parents of children with special needs, including those dealing with recent diagnosis
- Mid-life career changers, looking to escape the “rat race” and live a life of purpose and joy
The majority of my individual coaching sessions are done over the phone. It’s convenient, and I’ve found often times it’s easier for clients to let their hair down from the comfort of their own environment. Plus we can wear yoga pants and fuzzy socks if we want to, and who doesn’t love that?
On occasion, I do meet with local clients face-to-face – if you happen to be in the North County / San Diego area, and would like to meet up, please let me know. (Yoga pants and fuzzy socks optional.)
How often do we meet?
It depends. Some clients (particularly those in the middle of a major life event) prefer to meet once per week, while others prefer to spread things out a bit, in order to allow themselves time to put the tools to work before regrouping. We can discuss what works best for you and your situation in our first session.
